Amidst the roar of a storm and the deafening noise, he made his grand entrance! As the helicopter door swung open and he stepped out, many had already begun to piece together who it might be. The sight of his signature tied-up hair left no room for speculation. This is how Afran Nisho, made a dramatic debut in the official announcement video for his new movie.
With this, the actor broke his silence. After being away from the spotlight for over a year and a half, Afran Nisho returns as "Dagi."
December 8 marked the actor's birthday. On this special day, he announced that "Dagi" will release on Eid-ul-Fitr. The film is being produced by SVF, Alpha i Entertainment Limited, and the OTT platform Chorki. There had already been much buzz about "Dagi" on social media.
On December 8 at 5 PM, the official announcement was made through the release of the announcement video on Chorki's verified Facebook page.
The announcement video revealed that the film stars Tama Mirza and Sunerah Binte Kamal and will be directed by Shihab Shaheen. In the video, Nisho said, "You've been searching for me all this time, haven't you? Do you think finding someone like me is that easy? Mark your calendars—this Eid, you'll meet this Dagi! Remember one thing, we'll meet at the cinema hall. Clear?"
Director Shihab Shaheen is well aware of the high expectations audiences have from Nisho, but says he doesn't want to take that pressure. He shared that "Dagi" is a story-driven film, where the story itself is the hero. The director added, "It's a tale of redemption and forgiveness. Audiences will get to see something new. Stories like this haven't been presented to local viewers before. I've been working on this script for the past two years."
Tama Mirza has also been absent from the big screen for more than a year and a half. Although she received many film offers during this time, she chose not to accept them. Tama shared, "This is both a challenge and a relief for me. The challenge is meeting the audience's expectations, while the relief is that even after a delay, I am returning with a quality production. I really liked the story of Dagi, which is why I decided to do it. Who I'm acting opposite is not important to me; for me, the story and the director matter most."?
So, what does Afran Nisho, the star fans have been eagerly anticipating, have to say? He said, "I always strive to work on films that step away from the usual formulas, where the story itself plays a significant role. In that sense, the narrative of "Dagi" truly captivated me."
Meanwhile, the director and production team have remained tight-lipped about the shooting schedule and locations. They have promised to unveil all details about the film gradually.
