Farin Khan began her career in the media with the 2017 film “Dhatteriki”, quickly capturing attention in the entertainment industry with her glamour and acting talent. However, she is now focusing more on small-screen projects and has also appeared on OTT platforms. Her web film “Tribhuj”, in which she stars, has recently been released. The glamorous star of the country's showbiz arena spoke to the Daily Sun about her current endeavours and more.

Daily Sun: Could you share your latest projects with the audience?

Farin Khan: I’m currently working regularly on small-screen projects. Recently, I’ve completed a TV commercial and a few dramas. Additionally, there are several projects in the pipeline for Valentine’s Day and Eid celebrations. I’m set to begin shooting for new plays on the first day of next month.

Daily Sun: You started your career as a film actress, but nowadays, you are mostly seen in small-screen projects. Why is that?

Farin: To be honest, I began working in films without having a deep understanding of the craft. While working, I realised I needed to learn more. So, I’m preparing myself to better fit into film roles. Dramas offer the opportunity to play a wide variety of characters, which isn’t always possible in films. At the moment, I’m focusing solely on tele-dramas. That said, I’ve also received several offers for big-screen projects.

Daily Sun: When can we expect to see you regularly in films?

Farin: I don’t know the exact time. For now, I’m not thinking about movies. I’ve come to understand that films require a significant journey and preparation. At this point, I don’t feel ready for films. I don’t want to disappoint my fans, which is why I’m taking my time to prepare thoroughly before returning to the big screen. For now, my focus remains on quality television projects.

Daily Sun: You’ve also appeared in OTT projects. What are your thoughts on this platform?

Farin: In my relatively short career, I’ve participated in several OTT projects and received a lot of appreciation for my work in web films like “Tribhuj” and “Bilai”. The audience saw me in a completely different light in “Tribhuj”. I really enjoy working on OTT projects, and I believe the platform is a blessing for emerging artistes looking to grow in the media industry. I certainly want to take on more opportunities on this platform.

Daily Sun: Between dramas and OTT projects, which medium do you prefer?

Farin: Each medium presents its own challenges and opportunities for growth. I’ve learned a great deal from working in dramas. Although dramas require less time, they still present significant challenges. OTT projects, on the other hand, have the feel of a film. They are produced on a larger scale, much like movies. If I receive an offer from a talented director, I’ll undoubtedly consider it.

Daily Sun: Many people now seem to prioritise ‘views’ over content. What is your opinion on this?

Farin: I see the emphasis on views in both a positive and negative light. A few years ago, audiences would eagerly wait in front of their televisions to watch dramas. Nowadays, they go to YouTube or other digital platforms to watch their favourite dramas, films, or web content whenever they want. Given this shift, it would be unfair to claim that views don’t matter. Views can motivate an artiste to perform better. However, as an artiste, I believe performance and content should be given priority. Ultimately, both views and content are important.

Daily Sun: What has been your turning point in acting?

Farin: I gained popularity among audiences through the series “Female 3”, directed by Kajal Arefin Ome. However, I received significant appreciation for my role in the drama “Thikana”. Both “Female 3” and “Thikana” have been pivotal in my career. After seeing my performances in these projects, many renowned directors began considering me for their work.

Daily Sun: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Farin: I aspire to establish myself firmly in the industry. My goal is for audiences to speak highly of me and for the industry to feel proud of my contributions.

Daily Sun: Is there anything you’d like to say to the audience?

Farin: After a long hiatus, I’ve returned to acting, and I’m grateful for the warm reception from the audience. The love I’ve received in such a short time inspires me to keep improving. I hope the audience continues to support me, and I will strive to give my very best in return.
