Comilla University (CoU) has postponed the Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) department's semester final exam for the 2020-21 session after allegations surfaced of a question paper leak, including answer sheets.

The third-year second-semester final exam was scheduled to be held today (March 13).

Mahmudul Hasan Rahat, acting head of the MCJ department, confirmed it to this correspondent.

Kazi M Anisul Islam, an assistant professor in the department, has been accused of allegedly being involved in the question leak, he said.

The university authorities came to know about the alleged question leak after they have a received a mail sent by an unkown person on Tuesday night.

Some PDF's containing answers to past exam questions were attached to the email. The metadata of some PDFs was also mentioned, said the MCJ department head.

Quoting the office of the CoU vice-chancellor, Rahat said that the academic council held a meeting, formed an investigation committee, and decided to withhold the examination.

"The accused teacher will not be allowed to participate in any academic activities or enter the campus during the investigation, as he is alleged to have provided question papers along with answer sheets to a female student," added Rahat quoting the VC office.

When contacted, Kazi M Anisul Islam denied the allegations, stating, "All accusations are baseless. I have never leaked any questions or answers for the examination."
