The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations have been deferred again. Scheduled to resume on September 11, the exams will now be postponed for another two weeks.
The remaining exams will follow a new format, with only half of the questions being answered, rather than the full set.
The decision was made during a meeting held on Tuesday, presided over by Wahiduddin Mahmud, the education advisor to the interim government. Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar informed the media after the meeting.
The HSC and equivalent examinations have faced multiple delays due to the ongoing quota reform movement and student uprisings.
After the downfall of the Hasina government on 5 August, a decision was made to conduct the HSC and equivalent exams under a new schedule starting on 11 August. However, the board of education recently proposed to the interim government to reschedule the postponed examinations from 11 September. The new routine has now been approved.
