Khulna-Dhaka rail travel via Padma Bridge begins

The first ever rail communication on the Khulna-Dhaka route began on Tuesday dawn as a train carrying 553 passengers reached Kamalapur Railway Station via the Padma Bridge.

The Jahanabad Express reached its destination in nearly four hours after leaving Khulna at 6am. The train would leave for Khulna from Kamalapur Railway Station at 8pm and reach its destination at 11.45pm. The train would serve passengers every day except Monday.

At 10.45pm the first Dhaka-Benapole direct train communication began as the Jahanabad Express left the Kamalapur station for Jashore with a different name: Ruposhi Bangla. The train is expected to reach Benapole at 2.30pm.

The Ruposhi Bangla train would return to Dhaka at 7.30pm and then as Jahanabad Express would leave Dhaka for Khulna half an hour later.
