BGB deployed after fatal clash between Tabligh Jamaat factions

In the wake of a fatal clash between followers of Maulana Zubair and Maulana Saad factions of the Tabligh Jamaat at the Bishwa Ijtema ground in Tongi, four platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed to the area.
BGB Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam confirmed this information on Wednesday morning.
Earlier, a violent confrontation broke out between the two factions at the Bishwa Ijtema ground in Tongi, Gazipur.
The clash, which began in the early hours of the day, led to the deaths of two people.
Additionally, over 100 individuals sustained injuries during the incident.
The conflict is said to have started at around 3am when both groups attempted to take control of the Ijtema ground.
Tongi West police station Officer-in-Charge Habib Iskander confirmed the deaths, adding that the situation was currently under control.
