Leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and 12-Party Alliance on Wednesday at a protest rally alleged that the Indian Narendra Modi government and a section of Indian media were conspiring against Bangladesh and its interim government headed by Muhammad Yunus.

The 12-Party Alliance organised the rally in front of the National Press Club in the capital Dhaka with Jatiya Party faction chairman Mostafa Jamal Haider chairing the event.

BNP standing committee member AZM Zahid Hossain said that fascist Sheikh Hasina government and its supporters were conspiring to foil the achievements of the interim government formed after the fall of Sheikh Hasina government on August 5.

Zahid said that the Indian government and a section of media of that country were spreading propagandas against Bangladesh and the interim government.

‘We remember the role of the then Indian government and people of India who helped us during the war of independence in 1971 and they had taken many benefits in the past 53 years, but did not give us justified amount of water of the common revers flowing between Bangladesh and India,’ he said.

Mostafa Jamal Haider said, ‘Indian prime minister Narendra Modi in his speech tarnished the pride of our war of independence in 1971.’

‘We condemn Modi’s remark and want to establish the spirits of the liberation war by establishing the spirits of the student-people movement in July-August,’ he said.

LDP chairman and also spokesperson for the 12-Party Alliance Shahadat Hossain Selim and the Alliance’s coordinator, Syed Ehsanul Huda, among others, spoke at the rally.
