In an action-packed day of the National Cricket League (NCL) T20 tournament, Barishal, Dhaka Metro, and Chattogram all emerged victorious in their respective matches, each showcasing impressive performances.
Barishal secured a thrilling 5-wicket win over Rajshahi in a high-scoring encounter.
Rajshahi, after being sent in to bat, posted a total of 184/5 in their 20 overs, with opener Najmul Hossain Shanto leading the charge with a blistering 80 off 54 balls. Habibur Rahman added 47 off 33 balls, while Sabbir Hossain contributed with a cameo of 23 runs. In reply, Barishal started aggressively, with Iftikhar Hossain Iftey contributing a quick 35 from 24 balls.
However, it was Abdul Majid and Fazle Mahmud Rabbir who carried the team to victory, both reaching fifties. Majid scored 53 from 39 balls, while Rabbir made 56 off 34 balls. Mohammad Salman Hossain Imon also played a valuable knock of 21 runs from 12 balls, guiding Barishal to a 5-wicket win with 3 balls to spare.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Metro handed a narrow 6-run defeat to a star-studded Khulna team. Metro, batting first, posted a total of 146/9 in 18 overs, with Imran Uzzaman top-scoring with 46 runs off 28 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Naim Sheikh (22), Anisul Islam Imon (22), and Shamsur Rahman Shuvo (26) made significant contributions. Khulna's chase was derailed by excellent bowling from Metro's Alius Al Islam, who claimed 3 wickets for 24 runs. Despite a valiant 29-run knock from Azizul Hakim Tamim, Khulna fell short, finishing at 140/8.
The other match of the day saw Chattogram dominate Dhaka, securing a massive 10-wicket win. Dhaka's batting crumbled under pressure, and they were bowled out for a paltry 64 runs in just 16.4 overs.
Taibur Rahman's 30 off 43 balls was the only bright spot for Dhaka, as Fahad Hossain ripped through the lineup with 4 wickets for 11 runs. Irfan Hossain, Ahmed Sharif, and Mahmudul Hasan Joy each took 2 wickets.
Chattogram chased down the target in just 11 overs, with openers Tamim Iqbal and Joy leading the way. Joy played an anchor role with 44 runs off 37 balls, while Tamim made 21 runs off 29 balls, securing a comfortable victory without losing a wicket.
