Hasnat Abdullah, a key coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, alleged another attack on his vehicle in an “attempt on his life” on Thursday, after surviving a road crash on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway the previous night.
Hasnat reported to the media that an attempt to attack his car was made in the Jatrabari area of the capital when he was returning to Dhaka from Chittagong.
He claimed that a truck had attempted to ram into his vehicle.
According to Hasnat, a truck first hit his car in Matuail and fled. Later, the vehicle was damaged again in Gulistan by a mini-truck.
Although physically unharmed, Hasnat said he suspected that the consecutive incidents were part of a "planned attack."
After attending the funeral of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in Chittagong, there was an alleged attack on the vehicle of Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam, another key coordinator of the movement, while they were returning to Dhaka late on Wednesday.
Later, both posted identical messages on Facebook, saying: "Want to kill us? You will not succeed. We are the successors of Abrar and Alif. Remember – martyrs never die."
