Anti-Discrimination Student Movement leaders Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam narrowly escaped death in a road accident that took place at Chunti Union point on Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar highway on Wednesday.
The accident took place at Hajji intersection in the area around 7 pm when the duo was returning to Dhaka by a private after attending namaz-e-janaza of slain Saiful Islam Alif in Chattogram.
Alif was murdered during a violent clash between police, lawyers and followers of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari near Rangam Convention Hall, adjacent to Chattogram Court Building on Tuesday.
Khan Talat Mahmud Rafi, a Chattogram unit coordinator of the student movement, told the media that a truck hit them deliberately on their way to Dhaka.
Further detail could be known in this regard.
Earlier in the day, Sarjis has held Hindu religious organisation ISKCON responsible for killing a lawyer in Chattogram court and urged the government to immediately impose a ban on the organisation.
“We will go for a tougher movement across the country if the killers are not arrested and their exemplary punishment is not ensured,” he said this while talking to reporters after attending a namaz-e-janaza of the victim in Chattogram.
