Turkish company Nigella World to invest $10m in Bangladesh’s agro sector

Turkey’s renowned company, Nigella World, is set to make a groundbreaking investment of $10 million in Bangladesh’s agriculture sector to supply organic and safe foods.
Nigella World’s Group Chairman Fatih EKE came up with the disclosure at a press conference held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in capital on Tuesday.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Nigella World and Happy Haat Ltd in the programme. The Chairman of the Turkish company, globally recognised in natural health and safe food products, Fatih EKE, and Managing Director of Happy Haat Lt. Col (Retd) Ahmed Rehanul Bari Chowdhury signed the MoU as respective persons.
Secretary General of the D-8 Chamber of Commerce & Industry Ashraful Haq Chowdhury, Nigella World’s Adviser Laura Acar, and Chief executive officer (CEO) of Happy Haat Ltd Ahmed Ehsanul Bari Chowdhury were present there.
Fatih EKE said they export their green and safe foods to 62 countries across the world. The company is known for its comprehensive range of health products derived from the powerful and versatile black seed (Nigella) from herbal supplements and oils to safe food items, skincare & cosmetics, the brand has built a formidable reputation globally for delivering quality, reliability and consistency.
“Bangladesh is a potential country for trade and business. The country’s people are very frank and amicable. There are a lot of young and dynamic people. For the first time, we signed an agreement to invest $10m in the country. We will invest more here in the future. So, we want policy support from the government and security for doing business here,” he also said.
Fatih also added that they are ready to provide technology support in the agriculture sector of Bangladesh.
“It is our beginning in the country. We have planned to set up universities to train people which would help to grow the agriculture sector. I thank Happy Haat Ltd,” he also highlighted.
Ahmed Rehanul said Nigella in collaboration with Happy Haat Ltd will take full initiative in market promotion, sales and market development in Bangladesh as well as Happy Haats products to the international market.
“It is a milestone for us. We are committed to ensuring green, organic, safe and high-quality products like spices and other supplements. We have a network of 1,200 contracted farmers across Bangladesh who provide safe and original agro products. It will help to grow our agriculture sector,” he also said.
Ashraful Haq underscored the need for strong bonding, economic, social and business relations between these two Muslim nations who are active members of D-8 Countries.
“Despite that Turkeye is the major trading partner of Bangladesh and currently trade between Bangladesh and Turkey is around $ 1 billion which has a target of boosting up to $3 billion in the coming days,” he informed.
