A two-day Australia-Bangladesh Business Expo is going to take place in Sydney from October 3 this year, aimed at showcasing Bangladesh’s diverse range of exportable products and strengthening bilateral trade relations.
The expo will be held at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Sydney, organised by Australia Bangladesh Business Forum (ABBF) in collaboration with the Bangladesh High Commission, Canberra.
A total of 150 stalls would be set up to display all sorts of products made in Bangladesh. There will be seminars and b2b meetings at the expo, ABBF Founding President Abdul Khan Ratan said at a press conference in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Bangladesh High Commissioner in Australia Allama Siddiki, Australian Deputy High Commissioner in Bangladesh Clinton Pobke, Additional Secretary at Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) Md Ali Ahshan, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) director Md. Rakibul Alam, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) director Shovon Islam, and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) vice president Md Rashed also spoke on the occasion.
ABBF Joint General Secretary Nazmul Hasan, its Director ASM Muzamel Hossain, Director Shafik Sheikh, and Advisor Naiem Abdullah among others were present in the programme.
ABBF founding president Ratan said, “From ready-made garments (RMG) to seafood, home textiles, jute products, leather goods, handicrafts, plastic products, and pharmaceuticals have huge potential in the Australian market.”
Bangladesh High Commissioner Allama Siddiki believes the expo will be a new momentum for both Bangladesh and Australia.
“Despite our close geographical location, we did not strengthen our communication to explore business and economic ties. Bangladesh can export jute goods, leather, RMG, home textile, light engineering, and plastic products to Australia,” he said.
