The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has partnered with Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) to launch a US$9.65 million project aimed at modernising national statistical services in Bangladesh.

The project aims to modernise and strengthen Bangladesh’s national statistical system through the integration of advanced technologies, according to a press release.

Aligned with KOICA’s vision to foster inclusive and sustainable development, the project will empower BBS to enhance its ability to collect, manage, and analyse statistical data with greater efficiency and accuracy.

A master plan will be developed as a strategic blueprint for modernising and improving the national statistical services while a centralised platform will support seamless data storage, management, and analysis under the project.

BBS will get advanced tools and infrastructure for better data collection and processing while the agency upskill the staff to ensure effective use and sustainability of new systems and technologies.

KOICA’s continued support for this project underscores its commitment to advancing data-driven governance, transparency, and public service delivery in Bangladesh.

KOICA Country Director Taeyoung Kim has appreciated the partnership with BBS on this transformative project.

“By enhancing BBS’s capabilities, we are investing in the long-term development of Bangladesh’s statistical infrastructure, which is vital for achieving the SDGs and realising Digital Bangladesh,” he said.

The successful implementation of this initiative will ensure that Bangladesh’s statistical services are well-equipped to meet the growing demands of a data-driven, digital future, according to the official.
