Fire at Secretariat: Asif warns of stern action against conspirators

Following the fire incident at the Secretariat, Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan today issued a strong warning against conspirators.

 

"We were investigating the misappropriation and corruption in the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development & Co-operatives. Evidence of the embezzlement of several thousand crore taka was found," Asif wrote in a Facebook post this morning.

Referring to the recent fire in building number 7 of the Secretariat in Dhaka's Segunbagicha area, he added, "The extent of the damage caused by the fire is still unknown. Whoever is involved in this conspiracy to make us fail will not be spared."

He mentioned that he was in Nilphamari while giving the post on the social media and stated his plans to return to Dhaka as soon as possible.

The fire broke out early today at the Secretariat, and the cause is yet to be determined.
