Bangladesh cricket team will head into the new year, looking to wrap up 2024 with a clean sweep of West Indies after having already clinched the series with a 27-run win in the second T20I at Kingstown earlier today.

The Tigers showed a brilliant bowling display to skittle the home team for 102 in 18.3 overs, defending a lowish total of 129. The win, coupled with the seven-run win in the first match two days earlier, left the Tigers with their first T20I series win in West Indies. The final match of the three-match series will be held at the same venue on Thursday morning (Bangladesh time).

Liton Das, who is leading the team in this format in absence of injured skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, gave credit to the bowlers for putting on a clinical display.

"I'm very happy, not only me but all the Bangladeshi people. We were looking at such a win," Liton said at the post-match presentation.

Taskin Ahmed led from the front with double strike in his very first over and then Mahedi Hasan bagged wickets with the new ball again to leave Windies in trouble in the Powerplay. The other two pacers too got in on the act and Rishad Hossain bagged two wickets in the 17th over to leave Tigers on the brink. Taskin bagged the final Windies, Akeal Hossain out for 32 as Bangladesh clinched the series 2-0 with a game left.

Taskin finished as the pick of the bowlers with three for 16 while Tanzim Sakib, Rishad and Mahedi bagged two wickets each.

Liton gave credit to all the bowlers for applying their plan perfectly.

"Credit goes to all the bowlers. When we take wickets, whoever come to the bowling they give us wickets. It's all about a team effort. We are in the good flow at the moment and we have to come and play good cricket again," Liton added.

"I'm so very happy, after a long time I have been back in the national team, I'm happy. My role is a finisher in the team and my role is to hit the ball. Last few months I have worked hard," Shamim said.
