UNICEF extends cooperation for improving child healthcare: Health Minister Professor Dr Samanta Lal Sen

Health and Family Welfare Minister Professor Dr Samanta Lal Sen said UNICEF wants to extend its cooperation for improving healthcare of children.

"UNICEF made valuable contribution during COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh. . . now the UN body (UNICEF) has expressed its interest for working on different issues of children including 100 percent vaccine coverage," he made the comments when two top UNICEF officials met him at the health ministry, an official release said.

Chief of Health of UNICEF Bangladesh Maya Vandenent and UNICEF Representative Sheldon Yett paid courtesy call on Health and Family Welfare Minister Professor Dr Samanta Lal Sen.

Secretary of Medical Education and Family Welfare Azizur Rahman and Director General of Directorate of Health Prof Dr Tito Mian, among others, were present at the meeting.

The health minister said UNICEF also will focus on maternal health for improving child health in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has already made outstanding progress in different key indicators of health; he said adding UNICEF will extend its support for overall development related to child health.

The top officials lauded milestone success of the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for handling the Covid-19 pandemic.
