Former Aurthohin guitarist Minhaz Ahmed Piklu passes away

Popular band Aurthohin's former guitarist Minhaz Ahmed Piklu passed away at 9pm yesterday (20 December). 

 

Musician Raef Al Hasan Rafa posted about his passing yesterday through his official Facebook profile and wrote, "Piklu bhai is no more. He passed away just a little while ago.

He also said Piklu had a cardiac arrest while performing on the stage. 

"He was rushed to the hospital, but the news no one wants to hear came soon after," wrote Rafa.

"He was one of the most talented guitarists this country has ever seen. He played on and composed iconic songs like Shurjo, Guti, Odbhut Shei Cheleti, songs that are etched in our memories, that shaped generations," he added.

Guitarist Sultan Rafsan Khan wrote on his Facebook account, "Shocked to hear the news of Minhaz Ahmed Piklu bhai's sudden passing. Literally grew up listening to his magical guitars on Aurthohin's debut album. Sending my love, thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones."

Fans and Musicians including Elita Karim, Jamshed Chowdhury, Shishir Ahmed, and others, also shared their condolences on social media.

Piklu embarked on his musical journey in the mid-1980s, performing with hard rock bands like Rockstrata and Jolly Rogers, and briefly joined Warfaze in the early 1990s.
