James Gunn teases ‘Superman’ with first poster

David Corenswet debuts as the legendary superhero in the first official "Superman" poster. Director James Gunn revealed the motion poster on his Instagram account on Monday, giving audiences a glimpse of the highly anticipated film. Featuring Corenswet as the Man of Steel, the movie is scheduled for a worldwide release on July 11, 2025.

The motion poster for "Superman" on James Gunn's Instagram features a stirring musical score that set the tone for the film. 

The poster showcased David Corenswet in the classic Superman suit, complete with the iconic red trunks, soaring upward with unstoppable energy. Gunn captioned the post simply, "Look up. #Superman hits theatres July 11."

Fans flooded the comments with excitement and anticipation. One user praised the music, stating, "That score sounds incredible. It's such a crucial element." 

Another wrote, "We're so ready for this!" Another comment shared, "Chills. Absolute chills. July can't come soon enough!" Another fan gushed, "David Corenswet as Superman and James Gunn at the helm? This is going to be extraordinary—I can feel it!"

Trailer release date

In a follow-up announcement, James Gunn confirmed that the first official trailer for "Superman" will premiere on Thursday. The news sent fans into a frenzy, with one enthusiast exclaiming, "I can't believe this! Waking up to a poster and now a teaser? The Kryptonian gods have blessed us! Chills all over."  Another fan joked, "No sleep until the trailer drops!"

The highly anticipated Warner Bros. DC film stars Emmy-winning actress Rachel Brosnahan as the fearless Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult takes on the iconic role of the villainous Lex Luthor. 

The star-studded cast also features Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and more.

On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, James Gunn announced the completion of the filming schedule for "Superman." 

Sharing the update on social media, Gunn expressed his gratitude in an emotional message, stating, "That's a wrap. I am endlessly grateful to our incredible cast and crew whose dedication, creativity, and tireless effort have brought this story to life. I wanted to create a film about a good man in a world that often struggles to be. The kindness, love, and steadfast spirit I witnessed on set every day pushed me forward, even when I thought I couldn't take another step."

"Superman" is the first major film to be released under James Gunn and Peter Safran's leadership since they took the reins of DC Studios.
