Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain retires from touring

Iron Maiden's legendary drummer Nicko McBrain, 72, has announced his retirement from touring. The iconic musician's final performance with the band took place on 7 December at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, Brazil, during the conclusion of their The Future Past world tour.
McBrain, who joined Iron Maiden in 1982, shared his decision in a heartfelt statement, expressing both gratitude and excitement for the future. "After 42 incredible years of touring, it's time to step back," he said, thanking fans and vowing to remain involved in various projects with the band.
His retirement follows health challenges, including a 2023 stroke. Despite stepping away from the road, McBrain assured fans of his continued connection to Iron Maiden and other personal ventures.
The band honored his contributions, calling him "an irrepressible force behind the drums" and affirming his place in the Iron Maiden family.
