A new American Psycho movie is in the works

Lionsgate is nearing a deal with 'Challengers' director Luca Guadagnino to helm a new adaptation of 'American Psycho', based on Bret Easton Ellis's 1991 novel. 

 

Unlike the 2000 film starring Christian Bale, this project is not a remake but a fresh take on the story of Patrick Bateman, a Wall Street banker with a murderous double life. 

The script will be penned by Scott Z. Burns, who also wrote the screenplay for 'The Bourne Ultimatum'. 

Lionsgate's Adam Fogelson expressed excitement about Guadagnino's involvement. While comparisons to the original film are inevitable, this new adaptation aims to offer a distinct interpretation of Bateman's world and the dark satire of 1980s culture of affluent professionals.
