The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, has proposed to the interim government to resume the postponed Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations on 11 September.
Education board officials submitted the proposal to Prof Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser to the interim government, on Tuesday.
Prof Tapan Kumar Sarkar, head of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Dhaka, confirmed this to the media.
“We have sent a proposal to the chief adviser. Exam preparation is ongoing. New question papers have been prepared. A new routine for the exams will be announced within a week. But it may take a month to restart the exam,” he said.
“HSC question papers were stored in the police stations. Many police stations were looted, vandalised, and set on fire during the agitation. Consequently, the question papers were burned and exposed. Therefore, we are working to prepare new question papers. The routine of the rescheduled exams will be published soon,” said an official of the Dhaka Board seeking anonymity.
Earlier, the HSC and equivalent exams, which were initially postponed due to violence surrounding quota reform protests, had been rescheduled to resume on 11 August.
