Facebook has decided to discontinue its live shopping feature, that lets creators broadcast and sell products to an audience, from October 1.
The social media giant revealed the information in a post on Wednesday.
Facebook says it is part of the company’s initiative to shift focus to short-form videos.
“As consumers’ viewing behaviors are shifting to short-form video, we are shifting our focus to Reels on Facebook and Instagram, Meta’s short-form video product,” Facebook explains. Although live shopping’s going away on Facebook, it will still be available on Instagram.
People will still be able to use Facebook Live to broadcast live events, but they will be unable to create product playlists or tag products in live videos.
