International show on yarn-fabric, denim kicks off at ICCB

An international exhibition combo on yarn-fabric and denim has begun at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) showcasing top manufacturers, suppliers and industry professionals from across the globe.

Export Promotion Buro (EPB) Vice-Chairman Anwar Hossain inaugurated the four-day show as chief guest on Wednesday.

Chinese Embassy Economic and Commercial Counsellor Song Yang and BKMEA president Mohammad Hatem attended the programme as the guest of honour.

Over 325 exhibitors from 25 countries are showcasing their premium yarns, fabrics, trims and accessories at the show jointly organised by CEMS-Global USA and CCPIT-Tex China.

The exhibition is an unparalleled platform for professionals in the textile and garment sector to explore innovations, foster partnerships and connect with hundreds of exhibitors showcasing yarn, fabric, trims and accessories.

Addressing the programme, Anwar Hossain said the textile and apparel industry accounts for 80 percent of Bangladesh’s export earnings.

“The event, attracting participants from over 25 countries, has positioned Bangladesh as a hub for textile and apparel production, driving the country’s economic growth,” he said.

Anwar, also administrator of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), acknowledged the challenges faced by entrepreneurs due to rising utility costs, including gas.

“Any price hike should be determined in consultation with stakeholders in the respective sector, especially for the apparel and textile industries, as it is a major source of foreign currency,” he added. 

Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir, secretary of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Chinese Embassy Secretary Zhang Jian and CCPIT-TEX Vice-President Zhang Tao were also present during the programme with CEMS Global Group Managing Director Meherun N. Islam in the chair.

The four-day exhibition will remain open for all upon registration till Saturday.
