The Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BPGMEA) has placed five proposals to address the country’s energy crisis.
The proposals were placed by the association's president Shamim Ahmed at a press conference held at the BPGMEA office in the capital's Paltan area on Sunday.
The proposals are to invest more in digging new wells and taking practical steps.
Besides, hailing the government's proposal to dig 150 wells, the association said that these wells should be explored in a speedy manner.
The BPGMEA also urged the interim government to take initiative for importing gas from Myanmar through striking an agreement with this neighboring country.
Apart from these, the association demanded withdrawing duty and tax for importing LNG, building new LNG terminals, keeping the tariff of gas unchanged for the sake of the country's industrialization, attracting more investment, and taking practical steps after holding thorough discussions with the concerned stakeholders.
