Patients are facing bed crisis in the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) popularly known as Pongu hospital as rush of patients forces many to take medicare services staying on its floor.
The hospital, however, tries to provide best medical services in spite of bed crises as a huge number of patients get proper treatment from the hospital's outdoor and indoor staying on hospital every day.
But, it very often can't offer beds to the patients because it lacks beds for demands.
Sources said the critical injured patients are facing seat crisis as the hospital has 1,000 seats which is less than the needs here.
Some patients also blamed that artificial seat crisis is made as some outsider in connivance with the dishonest insider made a syndicate to control hospital beds.
Many non-serious patients leave the hospital after taking primary treatment from outdoor as doctors tell them no need to be admitted.
But, there are really some patients needing to be admitted who were seen waiting on the hospital's balcony and floor.
Abdul Alim came from Sonargaon for treatment. He fell down in the bathroom and broke his leg. He said patients are facing various problems in the hospital.
Director of the NITOR Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kenan said the hospital has 1,000 beds which is less than the necessity as patient's pressure increases day by day. So it becomes difficult to give every patient a seat.
He also voiced caution that stern action will be taken if irregularities are proven against anyone in the hospital.
