Bangladesh-India foreign office talk begins in Dhaka

The Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) between Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin and Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri commenced at 11:00am today at the State Guest House Padma.
Key issues on the agenda include trade, visa policies, connectivity, border killings, water-sharing, and other matters of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, Misri is scheduled to attend a luncheon and hold courtesy calls with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain.
Around 9:00am, the Indian foreign secretary arrived in Dhaka for the first high-level meeting between India and Bangladesh following the recent political changes here.
Following the discussions, Misri is scheduled to meet Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna before departing Dhaka later tonight.
The meeting is expected to address the strains in bilateral relations that have emerged after the Awami League government was ousted through a mass uprising on August 5.
