Climate change is one of the most critical issues facing the world today. Developing countries, such as Bangladesh, are disproportionately affected by excessive carbon emissions from developed nations. If the current trend continues, extreme weather events- including excessive heat, heavy rainfall, and severe storms- will worsen, jeopardizing lives and livelihoods. Poorer nations, with limited resources to combat these crises, will bear the greatest burden.
Recently, the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. This event brought together world leaders, scientists, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and business professionals to discuss global climate challenges.
Among the participants was Sadiq Al Sarker, founder of Plan of SASS, an organization dedicated to addressing climate change and advancing the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). During the conference, he emphasized the urgent need for effective measures to tackle climate risks and advocated for a transition away from fossil fuels to greener alternatives.
The theme of this year’s COP29 was “In Solidarity for a Green World,” reflecting a global commitment to building a sustainable future. Sadiq participated as an observer and provided insights on the importance of collaborative actions against climate change.
Plan of SASS actively works to achieve the SDGs, which are a set of 17 interconnected global goals aimed at ensuring a better and more sustainable future for all. Established by the United Nations, these goals span from 2016 to 2030 and focus on critical issues such as poverty, inequality, and climate action.
Through his dedication and initiatives, Sadiq Al Sarker continues to play a vital role in raising awareness and inspiring action for a greener and more resilient world.
