Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus said today that the world is in critical times, and Bangladesh is no exception.
In his address at the graduation ceremony of the National Defence College in Mirpur Cantonment on Wednesday, Prof Yunus highlighted the critical challenges facing the world today, stressing the importance of national unity and multilateral cooperation to overcome global problems.
"Globally we are in critical times, and Bangladesh is no exception," said Prof Yunus.
"The ramifications of our actions have far-reaching consequences, not only in the near future but also for generations to come. We must continue to remain as a state in our resolve," he added.
The Chief Adviser underscored that the future of the nation rests in the hands of its people, urging them to stay united.
"It is only the people who can decide the destiny of the nation," he stated. "To thrive, we need to come together more than ever before. Global challenges are not the responsibility of one nation alone; they demand multilateral efforts. Global problem-solving must rely on cooperation, not conflict."
Turning his attention to the Bangladesh Armed Forces, Prof Yunus expressed pride in their continuous commitment to national security and development.
"I am proud to notice the progress of the armed forces and their enduring contribution to national security, development, and nation-building activities," he said. "Your dedication to safeguarding the nation has been exemplary. Whether in times of disaster, political unrest, or the ongoing global pandemic, your unwavering readiness to respond reflects your deep commitment to the well-being of our citizens."
He also praised the armed forces for their contribution to global peace, specifically through their role in United Nations peacekeeping missions.
"Your contribution to global peace through the United Nations is internationally acclaimed, and your efforts continue to elevate the global standing of Bangladesh," he remarked.
