Workers of Beximco Industrial Park have blocked the Dhaka-Tangail highway for the seventh consecutive day on Wednesday, demanding payment of outstanding salaries.

Agitated workers blocked the Chakraborty intersection around 8:00am, said Manjurul Islam, a sub-inspector of Kashimpur Police Station, said.

Asked about the traffic situation, the SI said traffic was normal through alternative routes.

According to Gazipur industrial police, 41,000 workers are employed at the Beximco Industrial Park's garment and ceramic factories. The RMG workers have been blocking the road for over a week.

According to workers, the factory authorities had promised to sit over a discussion and set a date for payment of outstanding salaries. However, the discussion has not yet taken place. Thus, they took to the road this morning again.

They said they will continue to protest until their salaries are paid.

Beximco Industrial Park authorities could not be reached despite repeated attempts over the past week.
