Four killed as bus, pickup collide in Tangail

Four people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a pickup truck in Malauri area of Tangail's Madhupur upazila early Tuesday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately, said Rasel Ahmed, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Madhupur Police Station.

The accident occurred around 5:30am, the OC said adding that the bus was travelling from Dhaka to Madhupur, while the pickup was heading towards Dhaka from Madhupur.

The driver and helper of the pickup truck died on the spot, the OC said quoting the witnesses.

Two critically injured passengers were rushed to Madhupur Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries, he added.

Upon information, police rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies. The accident briefly disrupted traffic on the road, but the situation was brought under control by the police soon after.
