I’m confident but not thinking too much: Rishad on IPL

Bangladesh leg spinner Rishad Hossain said on Sunday that he is confident of getting a team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) but not losing his sleep over it.

Rishad and 11 others from the country were named in the final auction list of the upcoming edition of IPL, starting next year.  

“Everyone has dream (to play in IPL) but there is no point hoping a lot and I don’t have high hopes with anything in that case I won’t get hurt,” Rishad told reporters on Sunday.

“Normally I don’t think like that and I don’t even think about BPL draft I just try to remain normal because everything is in the hand of Allah so let’s see what happens,” he said.

“I am confident with myself (regarding performing in the IPL). A man can have good days or bad day and I am not thinking too much about it and when I am in that situation,” he said.

“I don’t have any specific team like say if I hope that I will be picked in Chennai and another team picks me certainly I will feel bad so not thinking that way,” he said.

“Normally I like Kolkata Knight Riders because there Shakib bhai and Liton Da played,” he added.

Rishad, priced at INR 75 lakhs, will go under the hammer alongside Mustafizur Rahman (2 crores), Nahid Rana (75 lakhs), Liton Das (75 lakhs), Towhid Hridoy (75 lakhs), Taskin Ahmed (1 crore), Shakib Al Hasan (1 crore), Mehedi Hasan Miraz (1 crore), Shoriful Islam (75 lakhs), Tanzim Sakib (75 lakhs), Sheikh Mahedi Hasan (75 lakhs), and Hasan Mahmud (75 lakhs) in the mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25.

Out of the 574 Players, 366 are Indian and 208 are overseas, including 3 players from associate nations. The auction will include 318 Indian uncapped players and 12 uncapped overseas players.204 slots will be up for grabs with 70 available slots for overseas players. INR 2 Crore is the highest reserve price with 81 players opting to be in the highest bracket.

Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman was the only Bangladesh cricketer to get picked in last edition's auction. He played nine matches for the Chennai Super Kings, taking 14 wickets at an economy rate of 9.26.
