Planning adviser urges Switzerland to lower tariffs to boost trade

Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud has asked Switzerland to reduce tariffs in certain sectors to improve trade between the two countries.

During a meeting on Sunday with Swiss Ambassador Reto Renggli at the Ministry of Planning, the adviser emphasised the need for expanding technical education to increase productivity and competitiveness in the global market.

He highlighted that Switzerland could play a key role in supporting this effort.

Deputy Head of Mission Corinne Henchoz Pignani was also present at the meeting.

Ambassador Renggli discussed Switzerland’s ongoing activities related to human rights, labour laws, and climate change.

He expressed interest in helping Bangladesh address economic challenges, especially in the insurance sector, where he sees potential for cooperation.

The planning adviser thanked the ambassador for Switzerland’s continued support to Bangladesh.
