Five retired additional secretaries have been appointed as secretaries on a contractual basis in various departments.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Saturday for these appointments in the following departments: Secondary and Higher Education, Road Transport and Highways, Public Safety, the Railway Ministry, and the Public Division of the Presidential Office.
They were appointed on a two-year contract, which is conditional upon their resignation from any other professional affiliations or organizations.
Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid has been appointed secretary for the Secondary and Higher Education Department, and Md Ehsanul Haq has been appointed secretary for the Road Transport and Highways Department.
Additionally, Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen has been appointed secretary of the Public Safety Department, Dr Nasimul Gani secretary of the Public Division of the Presidential Office, and MA Akmal Hossein Azad secretary of the Railways Ministry.
After the fall of the Awami League government, the newly formed interim government has recently cancelled these contract-based appointments of the secretaries and transferred some to other ministries.
