‘Emergency’ trailer offers a glimpse into one of India’s darkest chapter

The trailer of Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut starrer “Emergency” is finally out. On Wednesday, the actress shared the trailer on her Instagram story ahead of 78th Independence Day of India.

The film, which delves into one of the most controversial and tumultuous periods in Indian history, promises to be a gripping account of the Emergency period from 1975 to 1977 when then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency across the country.

The trailer of “Emergency” offers a raw and unflinching look at the events that transpired during those 21 months, a period often referred to as one of the darkest chapters in India’s democratic history. Kangana, known for her fearless approach to both her roles and public persona, stepped into the shoes of Indira Gandhi, capturing the former Prime Minister’s aura, intensity, and controversial decisions that led to widespread political and civil unrest.

Kangana's portrayal of Indira Gandhi is poised to be one of the most challenging roles of her career.
