Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus-Türk call: UN to investigate Bangladesh protest killings

UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk held a phone conversation with Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Chief Adviser's Press Wing.
During the call, Türk informed Yunus that the UN would soon launch an investigation into the killings of protesters during the Student Revolution, with a team of UN experts expected to visit Bangladesh to initiate the inquiry.
Professor Yunus also expressed his gratitude to Türk and UN Secretary General António Guterres for their support of the Bangladesh students' revolution, particularly in defending their rights amid the tragic and unprecedented killings of student protesters.
The 2006 Nobel Peace Laureate emphasized that human rights would be the cornerstone of his administration, with the protection of every citizen being the government's top priority.
Professor Yunus also sought UN cooperation in rebuilding the country and upholding human rights.
