Law Commission chief Khairul Haque resigns

Law Commission Chairman ABM Khairul Haque has resigned from his post.

Officials at the law ministry confirmed the matter on Tuesday.

Former chief justice Khairul Haque was appointed as the commission chairman on 23 July 2013 for a three-year tenure. Later, his term was extended in 2016, 2019, and 2022.

While serving the post, he had been enjoying salary, allowance, and other benefits equivalent to those of the chief justice.

Khairul worked as the 19th chief justice of the country between 30 September 2010 and 17 May 2011.

During his tenure, he led the Appellate Division in declaring the caretaker government system illegal and unconstitutional.
