10 more die of dengue in 24hrs

Ten more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Saturday morning, marking the highest single-day death toll this year for the second time.
With this, the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh rose to 448, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among the latest fatalities, four were reported in Dhaka division, three in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and one each in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
On 2 November, 10 more deaths were logged in the previous 24 hours across the country.
Besides, as many as 886 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever in a 24-hour span till Saturday morning.
Of them, 206 were admitted to hospitals under the DNCC, while 167 under the DSCC.
A total of 85,712 dengue cases have been reported since 1 January.
Last year, 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record.
The DGHS registered 3,21,179 cases and 3,18,749 recoveries in 2023.
