Benapole Custom collects record Tk6,164cr revenue

The Benapole Custom House collected record Tk6,164.59 crore in revenues in the last fiscal year (FY24) and the sum was Tk216.59 crore higher than the target of Tk5,948 crore.

The revenue collection from the Benapole Custom House is also 6.53% or Tk378.36 crore higher than the collection in the previous fiscal year during July 2022-June 2023 (FY2023).

 The revenue collection by the Benapole Custom House in FY23 was Tk5,786.23 crore.

Officials at the Benapole Custom House said that their revenue collection witnessed a significant growth due to the realisation of fines for false declaration, fixing of accurate duty, and increased vigilance to prevent irregularities.

Talking to BSS, Benapole Custom House Commissioner Md Abdul Hakim said, "We've strengthened our vigilance for preventing irregularities during imports. We've also put emphasis on realizing duty through determining the real HS code after seeing the sample of products."

Besides, he said that the overall revenue collection has increased due to the realization of outstanding duty payments and resolving of cases.

Customs officials said in the last fiscal year, revenues were collected from duties on fabrics, perishable items, truck chassis, motor parts and industrial raw materials.

The highest amount of revenue was collected from Power Grid Company BD, SMCL Niloy, and SM Corporation.
