An accident involving 10 vehicles, including passenger buses, took place on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway on early Sunday, resulting in at least 15 injuries, with concerns that the number may rise.

The incident occurred around 6:00am near the Nimtala area of the expressway, where vehicles were traveling from Dhaka towards Mawa. Initial reports indicate that dense fog led to a loss of control, causing a series of collisions. The chain reaction began with a collision between two cargo trucks, followed by a bus rear-ending another bus around 7:30am, leading to several injuries. Later, a pickup van collided with a private car, causing further harm.

Highway police and fire service teams promptly arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations and clear the damaged vehicles to restore normal traffic flow.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Kader Jilani of Hasara Highway Police Station stated that the dense fog likely contributed to the accidents, and excessive speed under such conditions may have been a factor.

The injured have been shifted to the upazila health complex for treatment.
