Grace Fu, Singapore’s minister for environment and sustainability and minister-in-charge of trade relations, has offered to share Singapore’s expertise to help Bangladesh enhance investment conditions through improved governance as the country embarks on a historic opportunity to reform.
This assurance came during a bilateral meeting on Tuesday with Lutfey Siddiqi, special envoy to the chief adviser, at the Ministry of Trade offices in Singapore, where Siddiqi is currently on a visit.
Siddiqi expressed his gratitude to the minister for Singapore’s continued support for Bangladesh and its collaboration with the Interim Government, particularly regarding the negotiations for a free trade agreement, which officially began last month.
“Bangladesh looks forward to a deeper and broader relationship with Singapore, encompassing, among other things, trade, investment, and knowledge transfer,” he said.
Fu thanked Siddiqi for his briefing on the Interim Government's reform agenda and reiterated Singapore's willingness to assist Bangladesh in its reform efforts.
Also present at the meeting were Ashik Chowdhury, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), and Luthfun Nahar, Bangladesh’s commercial counsellor in Singapore.
